Gain a better understanding of how to flexibly apply behavior management strategies in children and teenagers.
Childhood behavior difficulties constitute the primary mental health concern among children and is the most frequently cited reason for referral to pediatric mental health services. Research has indicated that children with behavior difficulties are at-risk for numerous negative life events including school dropout, drug abuse, juvenile delinquency, and adult crime. Unfortunately, most children who struggle with behavioral difficulties do not receive evidence-based treatment for these concerns. This material supports mental health providers in understanding evidence-based assessment and treatment principles that are particularly effective when working with patients presenting with disruptive behavior problems and their parents. The flexible application of behavior management strategies within fidelity will be described. This information is critical for mental health providers so that they can ensure they are providing evidence-based care for this patient population.
