The United States Supreme Court's recent decision to strike down an important provision of the Defense of Marriage Act has immediate implications for same-sex couples throughout the nation.
Gay and lesbian couples who are married in their home state or in other states that recognize same-sex marriage, may begin to enjoy hundreds of federal benefits previously denied to them. This on-demand webinar will explore the disparity between the rights and responsibilities of same-sex couples who live and marry in a recognition state and same-sex couples who marry in a recognition state but live in a state that prohibits same-sex marriages. The presenters are national experts in LGBT family law. They will discuss some of the benefits to gay and lesbian couples after the court's Windsor decision, the responses that have already been made by several federal agencies regarding application of the decision, as well as the many questions that are continuing to be raised and that will be decided in the future. This on-demand webinar is a must in order to keep abreast of this rapidly changing area of law.
