Fundamentals of Diversity and Inclusion and Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession

Learn about implicit bias in law firms and strategies to combat bias for an inclusive environment.

Let's face it: discussing discrimination and bias is often uncomfortable. However, it is a topic that cannot be ignored. If you are dedicated to having a law firm free of bias or want to make sure that your firm makes employment decisions in an unbiased manner, this program is for you. This course will teach you about implicit bias and how it manifests itself in law firms. It will also discuss intersectionality, the theory that the presence of more than one affinity status can negatively impact an employee when they are subjected to bias. Then, the material will review the role of effective anti-bias training and policies. Next, this course will teach how bias can translate into legal causes of action and show how these lawsuits have affected certain law firms. Finally, we will talk about strategies law firms can implement to cultivate a culture of diversity and inclusion and to eliminate bias.
