Gain an understanding of the concept of jury nullification and jury pardon in the legal system.
Paralegals are essential to a properly run law office and they need to know how to perform their job adequately. This topic will allow you to understand the legal background and history of what jury nullification is and what it means and how to be able to assist the firm who is faced with this dilemma. This material will give you information and a narrative to understand how a jury may use nullification and how or why a jury reaches a decision, which is in contradiction to the law, i.e., jury nullification. The second section of the topic pertains to pardons and paroles under federal law and state law. This section will help those who are responsible for assisting the analyzation for pardons and paroles. It also helps them in their process to recognize the requirements and differences between pardons and paroles and allows them to understand the difference between a federal pardon and a state pardon. The information will also touch on how a pardon is different from a probation.
