You will learn how to select appropriate interventions and strategies for dyslexic learners. This topic will identify characteristics of programs and methods that are research and evidence based for working with students with dyslexia. The use of how to integrate a few of these interventions and strategies into the classroom will be discussed and educators will gain a better understanding of differentiating instruction and assessment for dyslexic learners, along with tips and resources for further development in their classrooms. After attending this material, you will be able to identify students who may be at-risk for dyslexia, understand the impact of dyslexia on your students, recognize which programs and strategies will have the greatest result with dyslexic learners and be able to discuss your understanding of dyslexia with colleagues and your student's families.

- Dyslexia Specialist and owner/CEO of CodeBreakers, LLC
- CodeBreakers goal is to foster an understanding of dyslexia in the community by providing education, resources, assessment, remediation, and advocacy for education professionals, families and individuals with dyslexia
- Her journey with dyslexia began in 2009 when her son was diagnosed with dyslexia in the third grade; she began tutoring her son in an Orton-Gillingham based system and became a certified tutor
- In 2011, she completed graduate course work to enable her to screen and identify dyslexia in individuals as young as 5 years old
- Beginning in 2016, she partnered with Wright State University to develop a graduate level Dyslexia Certificate program for teachers and is currently an adjunct professor with the university teaching the Dyslexia Certificate coursework
- Co-wrote a journal article titled, "Dyslexia and the Need for Teacher Training: A Collaborative Three-Pronged Approach between a University and a Community Partner"
- For the past three years she has presented at numerous conferences on the topic of dyslexia and has had the privilege to be the keynote speaker for the past two years at the annual Oklahoma Literacy Coalition conference
- She also works with local school districts to provide professional development for dyslexia
- M.Ed. degree in Intervention Specialist, Wright State University;
B.A. degree in Psychology, University of Tulsa
