Understand the value and importance of Requests for Information (RFIs).
Many federal contractors are overwhelmed with 60-90 pages of form contracts layered with owner/GC contracts to create telephone directory sized mazes, for those of you old enough to remember telephone directories, on a project that you must sign on the last page. This material will show you a useful tool, the Request for Information, which is a common form in the trade and as well as a formal form to gain some help in better understanding problem areas or potential problem areas both before bidding and after award of a contract. This topic discusses better ways to write an RFI and some poor means of how to administer or submit an RFI which can diminish the effectiveness of an RFI.
