Alcohol, prescription drugs, the opioid epidemic, and most recently, fentanyl and other substances have adverse health consequences for self, families, and the workplace. Understanding how addiction changes brain chemistry is the first step toward developing a compassionate view of substance use disorders (SUD). Learn some myths and facts about substance abuse and how to identify people in trouble. Discover how to constructively intervene with someone and address concerns. Identify and eliminate barriers to helping or accepting help and some dos and don'ts of these communications. Help to promote the culture of eliminating the stigma around substance abuse and addictions for employees by being an agent of change. Understand the costs of substance abuse in the workplace. Recognize the signs and symptoms of substance use by learning about the stages of addiction and its impact on the workplace. Understand your responsibilities and how we can all be a part of hope and a healthy tomorrow.
