The Department of Labor has updated the sex discrimination rule for the first time in over 40 years - make sure you are up-to-date.
In its latest effort to identify and remedy perceived sex discrimination in the workplace, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) has issued a Final Rule updating its Sex Discrimination Guidelines for federal contractors. Effective August 15, 2016, the Final Rule further complicates contractors' existing compliance obligations by adopting a broad, employee-friendly interpretation of federal anti-discrimination law. This topic will help the person responsible for administering affirmative action and equal employment opportunity in your organization understand the Final Rule and take steps to ensure your personnel policies and benefit plans are up-to-date before an OFCCP audit. The faculty will discuss the history of the Guidelines and OFCCP's reasons for issuing the Final Rule, fully explore the details of the Final Rule and provide practical advice on how contractors' should respond. Failing to fully understand and appreciate the implications of this Final Rule could have significant adverse consequences should OFCCP commence an investigation into your organization's policies and practices.
