Learn how to manage the import processes and understand what Customs expects of importers.
Importers are required to provide accurate declarations to Customs when importing merchandise into the United States. Despite the potential extreme difficulty in fulfilling this burden given the nature of the international transportation of merchandise, importers may be subject to significant civil penalties for failing to meet this burden. This course will help the persons responsible for managing import processes to understand what Customs expects of importers when importing merchandise, identify when a significant issue has arisen, and manage the Prior Disclosure process with Customs to avoid or mitigate Customs penalties.

- You will be able to identify key components of Form 28 and 29.
- You will be able to identify key aspects of avoiding Customs penalties for unpaid duties.
- You will be able to identify penalties under 19 U.S.C. § 1592.
- You will be able to recognize when a Prior Disclosure should be filed with Customs as well as key aspects of formal investigations.
