Establishing Vegetation on Roadsides

Paved road corridors can be more productive, fit into the landscape, and improve water quality by integrating revegetation into your next project.

Paved road corridors account for over 1% of the United States. Roadsides are those lands adjacent to the road surface and are often sources for increased water runoff and soil erosion, corridors for weed movement, and in numerous cases, eyesores to the public. Revegetation projects on roadsides often fail because of a lack of revegetation planning or integrating revegetation planning into the road project timeline; inadequate understanding of the soils, climate, and plants of the project area; poor implementation of the revegetation plan; or lack of monitoring as a feedback to improving future projects. This ondemand webinar gives an overview of how these lands can be made more productive, fit into the landscape, and improve water quality by integrating revegetation into all phases of the road construction project.
