Despite their best intentions, Health Canada created unnecessary red tape.
One of the main priorities of Canada’s government is to protect the health and safety of Canadians. This protection has found its way into the laws restricting the marketing, product development, and ingredients of edible cannabis products that are marketed and sold to Canadians. According to Health Canada, the goals of the Regulations are, amongst other things, to restrict access, keep edibles out of the hands of youth, and keep the profits out of the pockets of criminals and criminal organizations. This white paper discusses how the likely effect of these Regulations will end up restricting consumer access to legal edible cannabis products and create unnecessary red tape for business owners in the edibles industry.
