As an attack against tax avoidance and evasion facilitated by tax planning techniques purportedly used by some wealthy individuals and corporations in “tax havens” around the world, the G20 finance ministers endorsed automatic exchange as the new tax transparency standard on April 19, 2013. It started in Europe, went international and recently went global with the CRS – Common Reporting Standard.
