Great Leaders Develop a Bias Toward Action

 
Every great leader did not start out as a great leader, they had to learn the process. Some even failed miserably at leadership first go-around! Read some stories about Abe Lincoln and you will get an idea of what I mean. To think that all of the attributes of great leadership are somehow woven into the DNA of a certain, select few, and the rest of us must sludge through the quagmire of leadership mediocrity is preposterous! Basically, everyone who ever got anywhere had to start somewhere and that somewhere was in a far distant place than where their eventual skills propelled them. Most leaders see opportunities that are right before them, unfortunately many of those opportunities look like problems to a person without insight.

One of the best attributes of leadership that I have witnessed is a bias toward action. I have seen so many good managers stymied because they did not have all the answers in advance of solving a problem.
