Most builders and consumers know that the R-value of insulation is a measure of thermal performance: the higher it is, the better the protection from heating or cooling energy losses. But using high R-value insulation alone does not guarantee high thermal performance in a home because R-value
is measured under static air conditions with no air movement. In "real world" conditions, the average wind pressure for most areas of the
country is between 5 and 10 mph.
