Detangling Liability in Ridesharing Accidents

 

With more ridesharing drivers on the road than ever the number of accidents is on the rise.

As accidents involving ridesharing drivers become more common, finding the correct way to allocate liability between drivers and ridesharing companies for injuries caused in car accidents will become a pressing necessity.This paper will explore how the relationship between the ridesharing driver and ridesharing coordinator can impact how liability is allocated in the event of any injury. Furthermore, this paper will outline the principles that support holding a ridesharing company responsible for the torts committed by associated drivers. Lastly, this paper will explore a variety of legal theories that could be used to assert claims directly against ridesharing companies in the event one of their drivers harms a ridesharing customer or a third-party.
