- Served as assistant attorney general for the North Carolina Department of Justice, representing the North Carolina Department of Transportation in construction and condemnation litigation
- Member of the Construction Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and a former editor of the Section’s newsletter
- Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America; listed in Who’s Who in American Law; and listed in North Carolina Super Lawyers 2006 to 2008
