California Payment Bonds And Federal Miller Act Bonds

 
There are four (4) types of payment bonds typically in construction: (1) private works payment bonds; (2) public work payment bonds (State of California); (3) Improvement security bonds (Government Code Section 66498 for offset improvements); and (4) federal Miller Act bonds. In California, the most common payment bond is a public works payment bond, which bond is required on all public works and earning more than $25,000 in construction. CC 9550.
