Solar energy generation prices have plunged in recent years.
The average cost of installation for solar energy generation tumbled 43% from 2010 – 2015. The main reason behind this drop in cost is due to decreasing equipment prices. However, the non-equipment (soft) costs have stayed consistent. Communities have played a large role in lowering the soft costs associated with installing solar energy systems. This white paper reviews the factors that communities could consider when assessing their own zoning practices to implement solar deployment.
