Deeds – what are they, and who needs them?
If you want to enjoy the ‘title to a property,’ you need a deed. Everybody thinks a deed is title to the property a person owns. It’s not. Title is the legal ownership of property and is the equivalent of a group of rights that a person or entity might have to property. A deed, on the other hand, is the actual physical/metaphysical document that connotes ownership of a property. This white paper reviews the difference between a title and a deed and discusses different types of deeds.
