There are many different kinds of veteran’s benefits, including aid and attendance benefits.
Most states have state commission nursing homes and the cost of care is significantly reduced for the veteran patients. There is also a special monthly pension for the veteran or the surviving spouse of the veteran and patients are required to have a service connected aid and attendance need. Eligibility requirements include meeting service criteria, medical and financial criteria. As of now, there is no look back period for assets given away to be eligible for the benefit.
