Uncomfortable Conversations With Employees - Accommodation Under the ADA

 
Under the ADA employers get to choose what accommodations will be made, as long as the accommodation the employer chooses is effective. What does that mean? Simply said, it means that the accommodation works. That it overcomes the employee’s disability-related limitations and enables the employee to perform his job or enjoy a benefit or privilege of employment. When dealing with sensitive issues it can be tricky to navigate effective accommodation options. Perhaps the most important thing to remember about reasonable accommodation under the ADA is to make a good faith effort to try to accommodate an employee with a disability.

In this video our speakers, Linda Carter Batiste, J.D. and Beth Loy, Ph.D., review an interactive process for an employer and an employee when an accommodation has been requested.
