The Communication Process in Conflict Management

 
This short, 10-minute video describes the breakdown of the communication process: 7% verbal, 38% vocal and 55% visual. Are you, like many others, surprised that verbal is only 7%? While talking is a large part of communicating, most of the time it’s how you said it and your body language while you said it. In this world of email being a main source of communication it’s often difficult to read between the lines based on the response you receive. Are your employees responding with a short answer because they felt like your email to them was demanding in nature? Did they respond using all capitalized letters because they felt attacked by your email? It’s important to know how to communicate with your employees and in some cases being face to face or talking on the telephone is the best method. Ms. Sexson is certified as a senior professional in human resources by the Society for Human Resources Management. She is the former executive director with the legal and human resources consulting firm, The Sexson Group.
