IRS reform bill enhanced identity theft protections and improved whistle-blower program.
The Taxpayer First Act was passed by the Senate only days after it passed the House for the second time, after removing a controversial provision codifying the Free File Alliance. This act established an independent office of appeals and required the IRS to submit plans to Congress that redesigned the structure of the agency to improve efficiency, modernized its technology systems, enhanced its cybersecurity, and better met taxpayer needs. This video reviews these plans and discusses the SECURE Act, ACA provisions, individual and business extenders, and what was left out of the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act.
