Learn about fill settlement site monitoring and testing.
In order to avoid fill settlement issues should soils technicians be on the construction site continuously during site work? Many jurisdictions require this so that technicians are able to test soils at prescribed intervals with in-place density testing. Those tests include the Sand Cone Test ASTM D1558 and the Nuclear Density Gage ASTM D6938 – 17a. This video reviews these tests and discusses what causes fill settlement problems to occur, as well as fill settlement mitigation.
