Pros and Cons of Different Types of PTO Policies

There are issues and costs for employers when they move to a new benefits system. “For example, a PTO-bank-type system usually incurs greater liability for the company because most employers (81%) pay out unused, earned PTO at the time of the employee separation . . . Under a traditional plan, vacation is often paid out at separation but not sick or personal days.” In this video our speaker, Amy Nixon, reviews the pros and cons of different types of policies. She discusses details on including pay out at termination. Ms. Nixon also reviews how employers structure their policies which can impact the amount of absences that employees take. She discusses the compelling usage of time for various types of absences, as well as the impact on morale of various concepts.
