Overview of Successful PTO Programs

PTO programs are becoming increasingly popular. While PTO programs have grown in popularity, they have been adopted at different rates by employers. Some organizations are slower to adopt PTO programs. Larger organizations with more than 20,000 employees tend to use non-PTO policies, while health care organizations favor PTO policies. Additionally, PTO banks are more common with non-union employers. In this video our speaker, Amy Nixon, discusses employee absenteeism and the potential for significant costs for employers. These costs include monetary costs of replacing employees, loss of production and profit, and impact on employee relations. She discusses the costs and ways to reduce costs of absenteeism and presenteeism. In addition to reducing the costs of absences and presenteeism, she also discusses how an effective PTO program can serve to attract new employees and retain current employees. This impact of PTO programs is becoming increasingly important with the changing workforce.
