The New Form I-9 - Is it smart? Yes. Is it life changing? Not so much.
USCIS published the new version of the Form I-9 on 11/14/16 and prior versions of the form will no longer be valid for use. In fact, employers who fail to use Form I-9 (11/14/2016 N) on or after 1/22/2017 are subject to penalties and fines as it was deemed mandatory as of 1/22/2017. The instructions are now twice as long and new fields have been added. Take a look at the new error detection and SMART features for yourself.
