Incorporating Delegation Activities Into Performance Management and Employee Development

 
Delegation is wonderful for incorporating into establishing goals, objectives and performance management. For employee goal planning and development plan discussions, include delegation into the conversation. Ask the associate what kind of activities they would like to be a part of within the organization. Present potential activities conceptually as part of the planning process. Review how the new delegation would fit into their duties and responsibilities. Use experiential learning (Learn by Doing) opportunity discussions into employee development plans.

In this 6-minute video our speaker, Rick Baron, SPHR, CPC, reviews some simple delegation opportunities such as, allowing an associate to attend a meeting on your behalf and report activities and their view point; and ask an associate to assess the current state of the organization’s function and recommendations for improvement. He also discusses the importance of creating a culture of empowerment and wraps up with several case studies of successful employee empowerment.
