As an agent, paralegals are essentially standing in the shoes of the lawyers.
All agents are required to keep client confidentiality. Anything that the lawyer obtains during representation is considered confidential, even if it considered public information. Beside paralegals, any other nonlawyer employees or even third party vendors or contractors are also required to keep client confidentiality. This video reviews confidentiality rules and the permissive exceptions allowed; and also discusses recent case law.
