When using a client intake form make sure you know who all the parties are.
There are a couple of early steps to take when preparing for a client intake. Take the time to run a conflicts check prior to the potential client’s appointment or before you begin your consultation; and if you charge a consultation fee, make sure the client is aware of it before the consultation begins. While non-lawyer employees are permitted to conduct initial client interviews, the practice is discouraged and limited to gathering factual information. This video reviews how to screen potential clients, including screening for potential conflict of interest.
