Communities that are figuring out a solution to their homelessness issues are becoming masters of their own destinies.
Many communities have realized dramatic and real decreases in street‐level homelessness in parks, under bridges, in wooded areas, on beaches, in central business districts, etc. And more importantly many cities are in long-term sustained reduced homelessness rates. Successful communities understand homelessness is complex, but not complicated, which is a very important and big difference; they comprehend the scope, structure and scale of homelessness; and they realize if they want big changes in outcomes/results they must make big changes. NIMBYism will kill fixing the problem. Small tweaks do not fix the real situation and doing nothing will make things much worse.
