One-size-fits all approach to addressing homelessness will not work.
Peter Drucker was a management guru that delved into making nonprofits better and looking at what can they learn from for profit companies. He had a systems approach way to his work and the first thing you need to do is to realize that dealing with homelessness is a system, a continuing of care. Not one single agency can provide all the services for all the subgroups for all of what everyone involved needs in a community. That means you have to get a system to work. You have to allow government to be able to work side by side with a secular nonprofit and have everyone be ok with that. There are enough challenges and problems in projects that everyone working together is vital. Our speaker discusses Drucker’s five strategic keys to success.
