Construction Projects - Anticipate Bad, Know Your Enemy and Manage the Risk

When you start to plan a construction project you think about the overall success of the project, however it is also important to consider what could go wrong. In this video, Scott Lowe explains the need to evaluate what to be prepared for and what to plan for. He discusses risk analysis and explains that while it is not possible to predict every incident that could happen it’s important to the project to weigh the odds that something could go wrong. After you have determined that, you will need to decide what the consequences are if an incident does occur and decide how you address that risk during the planning process. Mr. Lowe shares some of the risks that he has dealt with for a few of his clients, including technical, external, environmental, organizational, project management and constructions risks. He also reviews four basic ways to manage risk: acceptance, mitigation, avoidance/reduction and transference.
