Consequences of Owner and Contractor Bidding Errors

 
What happens when the owner makes a mistake, something was wrong in the bid documents, something changed, etc. What are the options available to them? This is almost always covered by regulations and statutes, and if not then it’s covered by case law that interprets those regulations and statues. The overriding concern and goal of public bidding is to protect the public. There are circumstances when an owner has bidding errors and they are allowed to cancel the bid; or bid requirements are modified and contract awarded; or the contract is awarded as is.

In this video our speaker, Drew W. Colby, Esq., reviews what happens when bids are cancelled and when bid requirements are modified. He discusses the Christian Doctrine that many federal contractors are subject to; as well as discussing the Spearin Doctrine. Mr. Colby also covers the different consequences of contractor bidding error.
