Bid Bonds and Avoiding Bidding Errors

What is a bid bond and under what circumstances would an owner be entitled to a performance and payment bond? A bid bond is a three party agreement or contract between the owner, commonly referred to as the obligee; the contractor, commonly referred to as the principal; and the surety, commonly referred to as the bond company.

In this video our speakers, Drew W. Colby, Esq. and Russ Corner, reviews bid bond language and summarizes the legal language into the basic promise contained in a bid bond in which one of two things will happen. They discusses the importance of the bid bond and the criticalness of understanding the language of the bid bond as it defines the underlying relationship or agreement between the owner, the contractor and the surety. Our speakers also review how to avoid bidding errors.
