Basic Financial Statement Analysis

Financial statements provides useful information to financial statement users about the financial operations, about understanding the financial position, and about cash flows – including timing of cash flows, amount, and uses of a company’s cash.

In this 13-minute video our speaker, Stephen Doneson, CPA, reviews the balance sheet which is a snapshot of the company at a certain point in time. The balance sheet depicts resources the company maintains to make profits and how those resources are being financed. It reveals what your assets are buy adding together the liabilities and equity. Mr. Doneson also reviews the key components of the income statement. The income statement details the activity (income, expenses and profits) over a period of time. He wraps up with video by discussing the cash flow statement which presents a detailed summary of all the cash inflows and outflows and the sources and uses of cash during the period.
