- Concentrates in the engineering investigation of fires and explosions, especially petro-chemical incidents and dust explosions
- Extensive experience in conducting fire investigations that involve residential or commercial structures and a wide range of consumer and commercial appliances and equipment
- Has investigated more than 400 major fires and explosions over the last 25 years, including the Federal Building Bombing in Oklahoma City, the Piper Alpha Explosion off Scotland, the Rhode Island night club fire and the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City
- Principal member of the NFPA committees responsible for the Standard for the Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids and The Explosives Materials Code
- M.S. degree in mechanical engineering, Stanford University; B.S. degree in mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering, Princeton University
