This video will look at the analysis of fire debris samples when there are irregular burn patterns and the requirement to detect accelerants. It will walk you through the different types of analysis including testing for the presence or absence of ignitable liquid in a sample, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. And this video will guide you through how you can interpret the information provided to you by your different analysis.

  • Principal member of the NFPA committees responsible for the Standard for the Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids and The Explosives Materials Code
  • M.S. degree in mechanical engineering, Stanford University; B.S. degree in mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering, Princeton University
