Allergies and Odor Sensitivities - Best Practices for Employers

Do you know how the ADA applies to employees with allergies and odor sensitivities? Learn what's required to properly accommodate employees affected. In this 20 minute video, learn the best practices for employers dealing with employees who suffer from allergies and odor sensitives. You will learn how to determine whether an employee is considered a “qualified individual with a disability”, policies concerning allergies and odor sensitivities, and how to ensure job descriptions reflect the need to be in the office or not.

There are no magic works to request an accommodation - make sure you are in compliance with all employee requests that could fall under the protection of the ADA. It is important to train supervisors to recognize and properly respond to accommodation requests as well. Learn why proper documentation throughout the entire “interactive” process is important.

Speaker Frank C. Morris, Jr. will give you a detailed summary of best practices for employers who need to deal with employees who request accommodations for allergies and/or odor sensitivities in the workplace. Frank is the Chair of employment law practice in Washington D.C. and the co-chair of the ADA and Public Accommodation Group for the national law firm of Epstein Becker & Green, P.C.

Speaker Nancy L. Gunzenahauser will go over specific examples and case studies of the best practices for accommodating employees with allergy or odor sensitives. Nancy is an associate in the Labor and Employment practice, in the New York office of Epstein Becker & Green, P.C. She counsels clients on compliance with EEO laws, the American with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, worker classification issues, and other federal, state, and local statutes governing the workplace.
