Recently, paid leave has become an interesting area of law that started with President Trump’s campaign.
U.S. does not have required paid sick leave on a national basis, but states and cities have started to fill the gap. Employers are coordinating with their other policies (PTO, vacation, personal days, etc.) and FMLA. Several states have enacted paid family leave including California, New Jersey, Rhode Island and New York. This could become a trend at the state level and possibly become federal law.
