Workers' Compensation Ethics

Ensure a smoother process in handling claims by understanding the ethical obligations of each party involved.

The handling of claims is important from the moment it is first reported. It is crucial to obtain as much information as possible to avoid any disputes on providing benefits later in the life of a claim. Each state has its own approach for employers when dealing with claims filed by their employees. Some states have unique handling of multiple aspects of workers' compensation claims. In all instances, having an understanding of the ethical obligations of each party involved will help ensure a smoother process in handling claims. This presentation will also assist in developing open communication. This ranges from the method of communicating with doctors, internal communications between the employers, carriers, and defense counsel, as well as establishing rapport with the representing injured workers and the court. These communications can help limit barriers preventing the movement of a claim to a final resolution in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.
