The language employed in legal descriptions is technically rigid and sometimes difficult to understand. Although the preparation of legal descriptions is the business of the Licensed Land Surveyor, other professionals and laypersons often have a need to read and understand legal descriptions. How can one know whether a certain document creates a benefit for a property or imposes a burden on it unless they are able to read and understand the document’s legal description? This topic covers legal description fundamentals from the perspective of those who are not versed in the applied sciences and not possessed of advanced degrees.
