Protecting Against Health Care Fraud: Strategies, Tips and Tricks for Health Care Providers

Learn ways to manage health care fraud risk preemptively and during an investigation.

Health Care Sector businesses are highly regulated, and violations of laws and regulations are often severely punished. This program will describe and summarize the key areas of recent federal and state enforcement initiatives impacting Health Care Sector companies and includes predictions for the future in light of the 2024 Election.

Attendees will come away from the program with a better understanding of how U.S. DOJ's enforcement initiatives have impacted Health Care Businesses - including what were the key cases in 2024, how data mining has driven prosecutions, what civil recoveries have been, and how voluntary self-disclosure programs have been working. They will also learn about what state enforcers have focused on including the use of state consumer protection laws, insurance fraud laws, and false claims acts. The presenter will describe the changes ahead for federal and state enforcement in light of the recent election, with a particular focus on what is ahead for U.S. DOJ in light of the change of administrations. Changed resources and focus will necessarily impact Health Care Sector businesses, and this session will identify areas of less and more risk for enforcement.
