In their day-to-day activities, they, as well as their supervising attorneys, should be able to prevent ethics violations and be aware of and remember the importance of avoiding the Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL). This topic will address what UPL is, how it plays out in modern legal practice, how it can affect practicing attorneys and paralegals, and how attorneys and paralegals can avoid negative consequences from it.
