Michigan Combined Group Reporting

Gain a better understanding of the Michigan combined group reporting requirements. When Michigan enacted the Michigan Business Tax, the reporting requirements went from 'separate company' reporting to 'unitary' reporting. Michigan adopted unique rules as to what constitutes a unitary business group, and many companies with less than 100% owned subsidiaries do not fully understand the unitary reporting requirements. This unitary concept was duplicated for the Corporate Income Tax. This topic will help tax professionals understand the complex issues and help the tax professional develop a framework when making the determination as to whether a member is considered unitary.
