This presentation will look at building codes within the greater context of the regulatory framework in which they function to provide the minimum requirements to construct, adapt, or alter a building. Model codes serve as the basis for state and local laws and ordinances. Each governmental jurisdiction has its own means for reviewing and approv-ing projects. Understanding the process and the context in which reviews and approvals are achieved is the key to a successful resolution of code compliance issues.
