Learn how to properly clean up a hazardous spill and how to develop a spill cleanup training program for your company.
Many facilities contain or use materials that can pose a hazard and health threat to their employees. Many of these materials are commonly used in product production or ongoing daily maintenance of equipment in a facility, which opens the possibility to daily exposure issues. Even the routine daily maintenance of facilities such as office buildings that normally contain relatively few hazardous chemicals have the potential for exposure to other types of hazardous materials such as biological fluids. Proper, professional training of employees enables them to identify and properly clean some hazardous materials, which is the key element in reducing the risk to employees as well as reducing the possibility of injury or illness. This topic will address many of the most common hazardous materials and provide important information concerning the initial basic training of employees. With the proper professional training, employees will be able to recognize an existing or potential hazard and be able to initiate the proper procedures for addressing some of the most common hazardous materials they may encounter. This vital training will also help to provide the employee with the knowledge to know when to step back from a hazard and engage a higher trained professional to deal with that hazard. Knowing when to engage in the right course of action will not only protect that employee but potentially many others as well. All of which will speak to reducing the liability of the employer.
