Copyright Law for Construction Plans and Specifications

Understand the fundamentals of copyright law and how it applies to construction plans and specifications.

Many contractors and owners deal with architects and engineers during the course of a project concerning the design of the project and often use designs of architects and engineers for projects. However, a majority of these owners and contractors do not understand what a copyright is or how copyright protection limits their ability to use the designs of architects and engineers or different projects. This topic helps contractors and owners understand the fundamentals of copyright law and how these laws apply to plans and specifications often generated for construction projects. In addition, you will learn what to look for in contracts concerning plans and specifications and also learn what to look out for to avoid any potential copyright issues that could cause problems.
