Change orders are a fact of life for any construction project, be prepared to handle them.

Plans and specifications are not perfect, and there are numerous reasons that changes must be incorporated in a project during construction. Change orders are such an integral part of a project that almost every form of contract includes changes provisions to address how to handle inevitable change orders. This topic will address the basic issue of what a change order is and discuss the differences in change orders in various project delivery methods. This topic will also address time impacts/extensions of time and pricing of change orders looking at how both the owner and contractor have important issues and factors to consider.
