Judgment Enforcement in New Jersey: Obtaining the Judgment

To avoid problems when ultimately seeking to execute on the judgment, the creditor should make every effort to be as specific as possible when identifying the defendants.

It is best to use the full legal name of the defendant and to properly identify the defendant as an individual, corporation, limited liability company, partnership or limited partnership. The New Jersey Department of Revenue has online tools that can help you find the proper names of most
businesses incorporated or registered to do business in New Jersey.
