Employment law covers a broad spectrum of principles and circumstances. The term can be applied to a unionized setting (sometimes referred to as an "organized workplace") where a trade union bargains collectively on behalf of members employed by a specific employer or assigned to a workplace. It can be applied to the employment relationship between individuals and their employer in a non-unionized environment. Some principles are unique to the environment in which the relationship exists.
